I went back to former Trump campaign manager Sam Nunberg for thoughts from Republican World regarding what today’s Jan. 6th hearings do for the political ambitions of former Vice President Mike Pence, whose natural constituents are on the evangelical right.

Nunberg makes several interesting points.
Today’s hearings put daylight between Trump and Pence, who has walked a tightrope by saying publicly that he did not have the legal authority to delay the vote of electors but also that he’s extremely proud of the accomplishments of the Trump- Pence administration.
(Meanwhile Trump has said that essentially Mike Pence is irrelevant.)
Nunberg says that today especially, that is not true. “I can’t see conservative media attacking Mike Pence. And that goes to a larger point… No Republicans in conservative media are defending Donald Trump,” Nunberg says, citing what he calls the “slow bleed of Donald Trump’s support.”
Pence is the third most likely Republican presidential nominee, after Trump and DeSantis, per Nunberg.
Why?
He has a very rich donor base, including Sheldon Adelson’s widow Miriam Adelson. He’s likely to have a huge PAC.
